Safety advice: disconnections

At NIE, we have made a number of urgent site visits recently to make damaged electricity services safe either during or after demolition. Some of these incidences could have been avoided. Find out how to apply for a safe disconnection.

Connect to our network

At Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE), we connect new customers to the electricity network or alter existing connections whether it is a new home, housing development, business premises, farm or if you are planning to generate your own electricity.

The key to getting your connection up and running is to let us know your requirements as early as possible. Find out more about connection stages and timescales.

We updated the NIE Statement of Charges for connection to the Northern Ireland Electricity Distribution System (1.7MB, PDF format) on 9 May 2013. The Statement of Charges is the basis of all quotes to connect to the electricity network or to alter your existing connection. All connection quotes in Northern Ireland are determined by the amount of work required and the amount of materials needed. Find out more about the updated Statement of Charges and the removal of subsidies from network connection charges (453kB, PDF format). Important message to customers who have submitted an application for a new, increased or alteration to their existing connection.
