How to apply for a business connection

You will need to follow these three steps to apply:

Step 1

Download a connections application form [305kB, PDF format] for businesses or contact our helpline on 08457 643643 to get a pack sent to you.

Step 2

Read and complete the application form and gather all the necessary supporting documentation. We need the following:

A site location map scaled to 1:2500
A site plan scaled to 1:500
Floor plan showing proposed meter position
Elevation drawings if your development is close to existing NIE equipment

We need to understand the amount of electricity your new business will need.

We require precise details of any motors, electrical heaters or other large electrical machines you are installing. Your electrical contractor can help you fill in these details.

You may be able to carry out the excavation and reinstatement of any cable trenches in private property, resulting in a reduction in costs.

Step 3

Send in your completed pack to your nearest NIE depot [43kB JPEG].
