Altering your business load requirements
Are you installing additional welders or motor driven equipment? Do you need additional electrical capacity or do you need to downsize?
If your electrical load requirements are changing you have to let us know. We need to understand the amount of electricity you will need.
To increase your business connection capacity
If you intend to install major electrical equipment we need to know. You will need to tell us what your existing load details are and what your new load requirements will be. We will then carry out a design and provide you with a quotation to upgrade your electricity connection to meet your load requirements.
You may need to get help from your electrical contractor to fill in parts of the form. It is important that you fill in the details accurately so as we can give you the best design and cost for your requiements. It also means that we can let you know if your existing connection is adequate to meet your new requirements.

You may need to get help from your electrical contractor to fill in parts of the form. Precise details of any motors, electrical heaters or other large electrical machines are required.
Should additional work be required you may be able to carry out the excavation and reinstatement of any cable trenches in private property, resulting in a reduction in costs.
Send in your completed form to your nearest NIE Depot.
On receipt of your application we will carry out a detailed site investigation which will result in either:

a new installation design and the issue of a quotation for the work or;

a connection adequate letter.
If we have to build new lines or upgrade any service cable we will let you know in your letter of quotation. If this is the case , after the issue of the quotation, it will be treated as a new connection for your business.
To decrease your connection capacity
Are you downsizing or removing any major electrical load requirements. If so we need to understand the amount of electricity your new arrangements will need.
You will need to tell us what your existing load details are and what your new load requirements will be. We will then review your current connection arrangements to see if any alteration is needed.
You may need to get help from your electrical contractor to fill in parts of the form. It is important that you fill in the details accurately so we give you the best design and cost for your requiements.

Please ensure you provide accurate load details on your application form as this will ensure that the connection provided is adequate to meet your needs. Precise details of any motors, electrical heaters or other large electrical machines are required: your electrical contractor can help you in obtaining these details.

On receipt of your application we will carry out a detailed review of your request, which may include an on-site visit. This may result in :

a letter agreeing to the decrease in your connection or;
-
notification that we may need to re-examine the charging arrangement for utilitsing our equipment.
