Education NIE apprentices in classroom

Fewer young people are choosing to study STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) subjects at school.  As a registered STEM company, Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) is committed to inspiring young people to study these subjects by promoting them through school and university outreach programmes.

Visit our know about electricity page where you can find out more about how electricity works, how it is made and how we transport it across Northern Ireland.

Explore our outreach page where you will see the school and youth initiatives that we have and you can even learn a bit through our fun games and school factsheets.

Our new Northern Ireland Electricitiy (NIE) Electrical Engineering Scholarship will reopen in the Autumn. Learn more about what the programme has to offer.

Electricity is dangerous. Visit our Kidzsafe section and learn how to stay safe around electricity, understand how electricity gets to your home and play some fun games.

The FIRST LEGO league offers a great chance for schools to get involved in engineering. The programme aims to make STEM subjects fun. Find out more about this exciting project.
