Tidal energy

Tidal flows are caused by the combined gravitational influences of the moon and the sun. One of the simplest methods of capturing energy from the tide is to build a dam or barrage across a coastal inlet, the dam contains turbines which generate the electricity. Using tidal energy to generate electricity depends on the technologies surviving the extreme conditions of the ocean but also the transmission lines to connect it to the electricity network, so it can reach people’s homes. We also have to consider the environmental impact on marine wildlife.
