Meter reading schedules
At NIE, we collect over 3 million meter reads each year.
Our meter readers will visit you every three months. They work from early morning until early evening to try and catch people when they are at home. We could call between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday or 9am to 1pm on Saturdays.
The majority of electricity meters in Northern Ireland are located inside properties. Increasingly newer homes have their meters located outside.
If you are not at home when we call, we will leave you a card advising you when we will next be in your area.
We cannot make appointments to read meters but if you are not at home when your meter is due to be read, you can submit your own reading.
