Choose your meter type

There are many different types of electricity meter but they will all be either single rate, dual rate or multi rate.

Identify your meter

Single rate meters

You have a flat rate for your electricity all day. You may use electricity to power lights, immersion heaters, electric showers and other appliances.

Dual rate meters

You have two electricity rates. For example, day and night rates, low and normal rates or weekend rates. You may use electricity to heat water or for storage heaters.

Multi rate meters

You have a number of different rates throughout the day. For example, you may have a higher electricity rate at breakfast and tea-time but a lower rate over night. You will use electricity to heat water and for storage heaters.
