Shift & Save trial - making Coleraine's network smart 

Northern Ireland Electricity's Shift & Save trial will investigate how smart meters and smart grid technology could change homeowners' energy usage patterns, particularly at times of peak demand, to reduce and flatten demands on the network and see if together we can help you save energy and help you save money.

The trial will involve swapping your existing meter with a new 'Smart Digital Meter' that monitors your household's electricity use, showing you how much electricity you are using and how much it is costing, allowing you to be more energy efficient.

We are looking for a small group of 200 householders to take part in the trial from the Somerset, Greenhall Highway, Wheatsheaf Road and surrounding areas of Coleraine. To take part please apply online now.

Why take part?

The more you 'Shift' the more you 'Save':

• During the first year we will send you a cheque for £25 for taking part.
• If you continue to stay with the trial during the second year you will have the opportunity to accumulate 'savings' by shifting the times you use your electricity. At the end of the trial we will then pay you these savings up to a maximum of £75.
• The majority of customers who take part will also receive an In Home Electricity Display that will show how much electricity you use and how much it costs you at any time of day. This will help you to make further savings by seeing what each appliance costs to use and encourage you to use your electricity more efficiently.
