NIE emergency crews worked into the night to repair damage to the electricity network caused by the high winds and blizzards.  Over 130,000 customers have been restored to power so far and work is continuing  this morning to restore the remaining 12,500 customers currently without power.

NIE has restored electricity to 17,000 homes throughout the day. Emergency crews will be working into the night on the several hundred faults still affecting the electricity network and leaving 18,000 customers without power.

NIE confirms that electricity has been restored to an additional 15,000 homes throughout the day.

Skies have cleared to allow a NIE helicopter to take off and patrol electricity lines in areas that cannot be reached by road.

NIE has restored electricity supplies to 5,000 customers overnight and it has over 500 engineers and lines staff on the ground this morning to restore the remaining 35,000 homes.
