We are structured into customer-facing businesses to support our goal and maximise efficiency and effectiveness at minimum cost. Our main business areas are: Power Procurement business purchases electricity from the electricity generation companies on behalf of NIE.

NIE Energy business retails a range of energy services for customers across the domestic, commercial and industrial market segments.

Transmission & Distribution business (including Customer Care) handles the day-to-day contact with customers, co-ordinates fault and emergencies, manages the distribution system operations and provides a service covering 24 hours, 365 days a year to every home, business and organisation throughout Northern Ireland. This part of our business is also responsible for the planning and design of medium to long-term developments to the electricity network at high voltage to ensure that all our customers will have the power systems to meet their needs into the foreseeable future.

NIE PowerTeam is a wholly owned subsidiary of NIE and carries out the major maintenance and construction work required on our overhead line and underground cable networks and the servicing of new connections into our network. Powerteam also offer our larger customers a comprehensive solution-service to cover all their High Voltage power distribution systems' needs.

NIE Connect provide our customers with a dedicated connections service onto the distribution network.
