Interruption to electricity supplies in Cookstown and Moneymore areas
Approximately 2800 customers in Cookstown, Moneymore, Coagh and surrounding areas experienced an interruption to electricity supplies at 1.10pm on Wednesday 5th February. Northern Ireland Electricity engineers responded immediately and all customers were restored to supply by 1.55pm.

Dick Lewis, NIE Customer Service Manager for the area, apologised for any inconvenience to customers. “We experienced a fault on the main circuit between Cookstown and Moneymore that caused protection devices to operate at Cookstown and Dungannon. The result was a loss of supply to Lafarge Cement Works, Dalefarm Creamery, Dromona Quality Foods and many other domestic and commercial customers. NIE engineers responded immediately, tested the system and, as the fault was transient, supply was restored very quickly. We have patrolled the overhead line to determine if there is any damage and will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
