NIE Gets Top Marks
30/03/2007
Northern Ireland Electricity received top marks recently from a North Belfast pensioner who was very happy with NIE’s service.
Mr Gerard McGuinness, who lives off the Antrim Road, took advantage of a NIE funded scheme to have reduced price cavity wall insulation installed. Following the work, he was asked by NIE to fill in a customer satisfaction survey and for his troubles, he won £50 of Marks & Spencer gift vouchers.
NIE’s Wilma Stewart recently visited Mr McGuinness at his home to present him with his prize. She said:
“NIE is keen to help people use less energy. A lot of heat escapes through walls so by putting in cavity wall insulation, you can save up to a third off your heating costs.
“NIE manages 20 to 30 schemes every year that help customers to reduce their energy costs. It’s an added bonus to get really positive feedback from customers such as Mr McGuinness.”
Mr McGuinness is now looking at other ways to reduce his energy bills including using energy saving light bulbs, turning electrical appliances off stand-by and replacing an old oil boiler with a more efficient one.
Gerard McGuinness said he was delighted with his prize, he said:
“One of my daughters got the information through the post about the NIE cash back insulation offer. I’d been thinking about insulation for a while, so I decided to go for this offer.
“The work only took a few hours. The company came after lunch and worked outside with very little disruption and were finished by teatime. It’s made a real difference in the house, it’s lovely and cosy.”
