Shopping Spree on NIE

28/06/2007

An Ardglass lady is Northern Ireland Electricity’s latest winner in the company’s direct debit giveaway.

Olive Strain signed up to pay her electricity bill by direct debit recently and was automatically entered into the draw for the big direct debit (DD) giveaway. Olive bagged herself hundreds of pounds worth of shopping vouchers as a prize.

NIE’s Angeline Sloan recently visited Olive at her Ardglass home to present her with the prize. Angeline said: “Paying by direct debit is fast becoming the preferred method of payment by our customers. People are finding it less stressful and time consuming to pay by DD. Many congratulations to Olive for signing up and winning. Olive can enter summer in style with the help of the vouchers.”

Olive was delighted with her prize, she said: “I was always meaning to sign up to direct debit, but never seemed to get the time to pick up the phone. I was surprised how easy it really was. I rang the call centre and they took my details. In no time I was making the savings. I can’t wait to hit the shops and spend my winning vouchers.”

Householders who choose to pay their NIE bill by monthly direct debit get up to £28 a year off electricity bills, that’s 4% discount. Monthly direct debit enables householders to spread the cost of their electricity over the course of the year, taking into consideration possible seasonal changes in usage. Customers will know how much is due to go out of their account as a monthly amount is set, giving customers more control.

If you prefer to pay the actual NIE bill amount, customers can pay by quarterly direct debit saving up to £18 per year, 2.5% off bills. NIE’s direct debit means convenient payments with discount off future bills. You will continue to get a statement from NIE, so you know the details of electricity usage.

To pay your NIE bill by direct debit and get discounted electricity simply call NIE on 08457 455 455 (home lines open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and on Saturday 9am to 1pm).
