Mourneview Sees Savings

03/07/2007

Mourneview Caravan Park on the Dundrum road in Newcastle has got the summer off to an electric start, thanks to a deal from Northern Ireland Electricity.

The busy touring caravan business is one of many businesses NIE has recently helped to reduce their electricity bill.

NIE Business Energy Manager Alison Moore said: “We completed a free tariff check which involved analysing the electricity usage on the site and determined that it would make more financial sense for the caravan park to be on a tariff that has cheaper night time electricity. They use a lot of electricity at night for security lighting and pumps and by switching to a more appropriate tariff, plus the discount for paying by direct debit, Mourneview Caravan Park will be saving quite a bit off their electricity bills in future.”

It is estimated that the caravan park could be saving around 15% off future NIE bills. Derek Brady, owner of Mourneview Caravan Park, is delighted with the savings, he said: “We’ve recently invested a lot of money on new playgrounds for kids, so any money I can shave off overheads, such as electricity bills, is great news. I’m looking forward to savings off my future electricity bills!”

Businesses interested in making similar savings on electricity costs should follow these easy steps. Step one is make sure that your business is on the most beneficial NIE tariff. Step two is switch to direct debit. NIE Business Energy customers receive a 4% discount for paying by direct debit, saving the cost of around two weeks worth of electricity every year. Monthly-billed NIE business customers get 3% discount.

Step three, reduce your energy usage. NIE has a number of energy saving schemes for business customers including a range of reduced price low energy lighting options.

If you would like to sign up to NIE’s direct debit, request a free tariff check or find out about energy saving offers, call NIE on 08457 455 455 (business lines open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).
