Bright eBay Sparks in Cookstown
29/10/2007
A group of Cookstown businesspeople have proved to be bright sparks on ebay.
The group were recently awarded a ‘Basics of Selling on eBay’ certificate on completing a Northern Ireland Electricity sponsored training course in Cookstown Enterprise centre.
Michael Hughes from Portstewart, who is eBay’s only 5 star instructor in the UK, directed the course. Spanning over two days, the course covered areas such as, registering on eBay, buying and selling on eBay and other useful tips on photography and eBay Express.
Cookstown businessman Dean Oldcroft, owner of Autocom, which sells mobile phone car kits and accessories, said he was delighted with the award. “I decided to attend the eBay course as I hope to start trading on eBay in the near future. I found the course to be informative and useful and I have also received some tips on how to make my business succeed on eBay,” said Dean.
Ebay is a global online marketplace with 212 million registered users spanning over 33 countries. Sales on eBay this year will top £25 billion and around 1 million users make all or most of their income on it.
Emma Hawthorne from course sponsor NIE added: “This is an excellent opportunity for local business owners to learn how to increase their sales and take advantage of export opportunities.
“All of the business people on the course said how useful they found it and many expressed an interest in attending a more advanced course, if it is available in the future. NIE is delighted to be able to support this kind of training course for local business people throughout Northern Ireland.”
