In the next decade, renewable energy will transform our electricity network providing a sustainable and more prosperous future for us all.
A net zero carbon future will place even more emphasis and reliability on the electricity network. Therefore this is an exciting time to announce that our Procurement team is growing in order to facilitate and encourage net zero, and embrace new procurement opportunities with increasing scale of contracts within NIE Networks.
We have exciting new roles at Procurement Officer and Category Managements levels in IT, Sustainability, Compliance, Supplies and Contracting.
Joining NIE Networks procurement will offer opportunities to see how procurement can support the changing environment, but also the wider role NIE Networks has in society and an enabler for change.

Our Head of Procurement, Stephen O’Neill has answered a few questions below to give interested candidates more background on the role of procurement at NIE Networks.

What size and volume of procurements are dealt with at NIE Networks?
Currently we have around 250+ procurements with in excess of £1bn live awards, averaging over £150m expenditure on the NI network. The procurements to be awarded will range from below £100k to over £200m, with working with a wide range of internal stakeholders from engineering services, to IT, to major capital projects.

What markets are you working with?
We source suppliers and contracting partners from both a local and global market, with increasing work plans that will allow our existing supply chain to grow to respond to that increase, whilst also establishing new opportunities with new innovative vendors.

What development opportunities are available within the Procurement team?
We offer great development support throughs CIPS professional qualifications, on the job bespoke training including great personal opportunities and company support that is available for all employees across the business.

What is life as a procurement professional like at NIE Networks?
We are currently a small focused team delivering procurements across all works, services and supplies under the requirements of the Utility Regulations with a great sense of teamwork to deliver for the people of NI.
These new roles will help expand and develop the team for the longer term and help with the ambitions and challenges ahead in the area of procurement
