    A contractor has miraculously escaped injury after damaging a high voltage underground electricity cable in Portadown this week.  Around 2000 homes and businesses were left without electricity shortly after 9.20am on Wednesday 29th October following the damage.

    Results from a Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) smart meter trial in the Coleraine area have just been published. The ‘Shift & Save’ trial found that smart meters helped decrease ‘tea-time’ peak on the electricity network by 11.6%.
